I was hired by penguin Books UK to create a cover for the book "The Strings of Murder" by mexican author Oscar de Muriel.
Inital rough pencil sketches and explorations for the placement of elements. As in the book, i wanted to give the cover several layers of images, like different nuances and give the impression of a mystery being unfolded.

With the sketch approved by the client and a clear visual direction to follow i started building the typography and the vector shapes in Illustrator.
Composition of the cover, back cover and spine was made on Photoshop importing the vectors as smart objects.
